Like his father and grandfather, Rob is a third-generation attorney practicing in the Blount County area. A 2007 graduate of Oneonta High School, he received his undergraduate degree in History from Birmingham-Southern College in 2011. After graduating from Birmingham-Southern, Rob moved to Washington, DC and worked on Capitol Hill for Congresswoman Terri A. Sewell of Alabama’s Seventh Congressional District initially as an intern then as Press Assistant/Legislative Aide before becoming the Congresswoman’s Press Secretary. In the Fall 2013, Rob returned to Alabama to attend law school at The University of Alabama School of Law where he served the Editor-in-Chief of the Law & Psychology Review, had his student note published, and was very involved in giving back to the community through public interest works.
After law school, Rob worked as in-house counsel for Steel City Pops in Birmingham, Alabama where he negotiated and drafted numerous commercial leases and contracts across multiple states, advised the company on employment, social media and regulatory compliance matters and managed and mitigated legal risks through implementing company policies and procedures. Thereafter, he worked as a contract attorney where he counseled utility and industrial development boards, municipalities and other entities on compliance matters and drafted and negotiated contracts and agreements therewith. In January 2019, Rob decided to return to his roots and join his dad, Dalton, and Eddie in practice as they formed the firm NeSmith, Lowe & NeSmith.
In the office, Rob primarily focuses on wills/trusts/estates matters, deed and real property disputes, residential and commercial leasing and contracts, divorce/child custody and civil litigation work. Outside of the office, Rob enjoys playing trivia, working on home improvement projects, seeing live music and traveling/spending time with his wife, Holly, and their two young daughters, Blair and Drew and son, Nauls.
